Chapter 14 It Has Come To This

  • ARCADIAN (AFTERNOON)
  • Inside the council hall were all the Kings, the princes, the generals, and the ministers all present to discuss their fate after the six kingdoms had been defeated remaining only one kingdom which was Arcadian.
  • The prime minister of the Arcadian kingdom stood up and said to King Hartley “We lost General Jay and General Smith to the Arkians, as well as many soldiers. They died protecting their kingdom”.
  • “Okay. How are the people settling in?” King Hartley asked the ministers of the Arcadian kingdom.
  • “The Kings, the princes, and the Queens will be staying in the palace while the ministers will be staying in the city along with their people. Everyone's home has been shown to them and they have all settled. The soldiers will also be staying with the soldiers of Arcadian” said the minister for Health of the Arcadian kingdom.
  • “It is good that everyone has settled down. What next is what should be done?” said King Hartley.
  • “Before that, all the kings, councils, and princes would like to thank you all for accommodating us in Arcadian after our defeat” said King Rahim to King Hartley.
  • “Your kindness is immeasurable, your royal majesty” said all the other kings, councils, and princes of other kingdoms in a union to King Hartley.
  • “It is fine. Your defeat is not your fault. We are one kingdom even though we bear different names. We are also one people. We have fought together for a long time and that makes us family. Arcadian is also your home. I hope you all find it comfortable” said King Hartley to the other Kings, councils, and the princes.
  • “Thank you, your royal majesty” said the other Kings, councils, and princes in a union to King Hartley.
  • “Now that everyone has been settled, let's talk about the plan” said King Hartley.
  • Head General Ben asked the other kingdoms' generals “what can you all tell us about the Arkains?”.
  • “I am sure the news about the new Arkains is not new. They are very different from the ones we have been fighting before them. They are deadlier” said General Baci.
  • “The new Arkains also have tails and wings which they also use to attack, and they are very fast when attacking” said General Heron.
  • “Not only that, they have become a little bigger than the Arkians we have been fighting which makes it harder to kill them” said General Faruk.
  • “Which is why the soldiers' swords have to become longer than before” said General Dre.
  • “What about the size of the new Arkians?” Head General Ben asked the generals of the other kingdoms.
  • “That is currently unknown. The Arkians attacked the kingdoms unawarely so we failed to know their size because we were busy fighting them” said King Rahim.
  • “They didn’t give us a chance to know about their number. They just keep attacking speedily” said King Jeff.
  • “How many soldiers do we have all together?” King Hartley asked head General Ben.
  • “With the surviving soldiers of the other kingdoms, we have a total of 5 million currently. We have 1.6 million archers and 3.4 million combat soldiers. The recruitment of the army is also still in process” said head General Ben.
  • “Okay. Continue to recruit as many as you can” said King Hartley to head General Ben.
  • “What are we going to do now, your royal majesty? What is the plan?” King Nuer asked King Hartley.
  • “What we are going to do now is try to survive until the full moon because we have just gotten to half of this month. Surviving until the end of next month which is when the full moon will rise is going to be hard for us but we must make sure we survive no matter what” said King Hartley.
  • The other kings, other ministers, and other princes were confused by King Hartley's words so King Kung Lim asked King Hartley what he meant by his words.
  • King Hartley explained to the other Kings, other princes, and other councils that he had accepted the idea of them leaving their world for another world so that they could survive and escape the Arkains. King Hartley told them they have to do whatever it is they can do to survive the attacks of the Arkains and survive until the full moon which is the day they will all desert their world to another world where they would continue their lives and legacy.
  • After hearing all that King Hartley said, no one could object in the hall or say anything because they all knew it was for their survival. There was no way they could defeat or stop the Arkains so they thought what was best for them was to run and save their life and legacies from extinction which is what the Arkains have intended for them.
  • After the meeting was dismissed, the kings and the minister left the palace with the head King to the city to check on the people while Prince Ragon and Prince Ranork left with the other princes to train with them and show them around Arcadian. Head General Ben left with all the leading generals and generals to continue the training and recruitment of the soldiers to add to their number. Assistant General Suci left the palace to the blacksmiths' places to tell them the length of swords they would now produce for the soldiers so they would be able to fight the Arkains and kill them.
  • 7 DAYS LATER (MORNING)
  • The alarming bell in the Arcadian kingdom rang continuously which signal that the Arkains had arrived, and that made Arcadian city silent because everyone made their way to their home and the whole city was empty.
  • Inside the strategy room was King Hartley, the other kings, Prince Ranork, Prince Ragon, the other princes, head General Ben, assistant General Suci, and all the other generals present and they were all dressed in their armor, and each of them holding their sword. Every one of them looks anxious but it is a battle they must fight to survive.
  • King Hartley asked “where are the Arkains right now?”
  • “They are stationed in front of the west gate of the great wall. They have not made any move to attack us but they will soon” said assistant General Suci.
  • “What about the army?” asked King Hartley.
  • “Since the Arkains are only present outside the west wall gate, we have stationed 400,000 thousand archers and 600, 000 thousand combat soldiers on the wall battlement while the remaining soldiers will remain stationed on the ground to replace any dead soldiers on the battlement” said head General Ben.
  • “What about the size of the Arkians?” King Neur asked the generals.
  • “We couldn’t estimate their number because of the trees. The Arkians had truly gotten smarter that they don’t want us to know their size” said General Dre.
  • The head King, the other Kings, and the princes were confused to hear that but then General Baci said “this is not the first time the Arkians are attacking us so the Arkains knew the west wall of the Arcadian great wall is only a few distance to forest which is why they came through there. The Arkains are presently hiding in the forest revealing a small part of them to us. And the number of the small part is estimated to be 500,000”.
  • “The Arkains presently don’t want us to know their size so that can have an advantage on their side. They want us to think about their size which can bring fear to our mind” said head General Ben.
  • “Those damn creatures are truly way smarter than we all think” King Hartley thought out loud, and then King Hartley asked the generals “how are the soldiers?”.
  • “They are all fine and ready. There is nothing the Arkains can do to make the soldiers fear them. It is their wish to become a warrior and die fighting the Arkains so they have nothing to be afraid about. They stood brave and are ready for your royal majesty's command” said General Heron.
  • King Hartley sighed and thought for a while before saying “this is going to be a great battle that will be remembered forever. It will be more bloody and surviving will be hard but we have to be strong and enduring. No matter what, we must not allow the Arkains to breach the great wall. We must protect the great wall with everything we have got. We must be ready to lay down our lives to protect our future. We must be remembered through history forever”.
  • “Yes, your royal majesty” said everyone in the room in a union.
  • King Hartley, the other kings, Prince Ranork, Prince Ragon, the other princes, head General Ben, assistant General Suci, and the other generals got to the battlement of the west gate great wall, and those who haven’t seen the new Arkians were surprised upon seeing them.
  • It was like the Arkains were waiting for the leaders to arrive before they launched their attack because minutes after the Kings, princes, and generals got to the battlements, the Arkains launched their Arkains upon the humans by running toward the wall to climb it to the battlement.
  • Seeing the Arkains running toward the wall, head General Ben ordered the archers to be ready and all the archers fixed an arrow to their bows ready to shoot. Head General Ben waited for the Arkains to get closer to the wall before ordering the archers to rain arrows on the Arkains, and the archers did.
  • The archers made sure the Arkians never got to the wall as they rained continuous arrows on the Arkians targeting their necks and heads but that didn’t stop the Arkains from continuing to advance even though the Arkains were getting killed.
  • The Arkains tried as much as they could to get to the wall so they could climb it to the battlement but the archers made sure they were not able to. The archers shoot with confidence and that makes their arrows able to hit their targets which are the Arkians' heads and necks.
  • King Hartley and the other kings were happy with the archers’ performance and they praised head General Ben for his hard work knowing he was the one who personally trained the army, most especially the archers to be great.
  • Later on, the head King, the Kings, the princes, and all the generals get a bow and arrows, and then join the archers in shooting the Arkains so they don’t get to the wall but the Arkains keep advancing even though many of them were getting killed. The Arkians are emotionless creatures they don’t care if they are getting killed and will keep attacking to fulfill their mission.
  • Queen Rebeca was looking for a magical book in her room when she came across the book priestess Mary gave to her the day she was talking with the head King, the assistant General, the great General, and the two princes in the pavilion. Queen Rebeca has never checked out the book or opened it to know the content of the book ever since she took it from the table in the pavilion, nor has priestess Mary talked to her about the book ever since that day.
  • Queen Rebeca took the book and went to sit down on a chair so she could know what the book was all about. The book covers were plain which made Queen Rebeca to be curious about the book. Queen Rebeca opened the book to read but to her surprise, she could not read the content of the book. The book was written in another language that doesn’t exist in their world and that made Queen Rebeca confused.
  • Queen Rebeca was confused that a book that was written in a language that did not exist in their world could exist in their world. Even though Queen Rebeca could not read the book, she was so curious to know about the book, and that made her open through pages in the book. While opening through pages, Queen Rebeca saw pictures of many different creatures she had never seen in her life, and the most shocking part of the book was that she saw the picture of the Arkains that the kingdoms had ever fought and the new ones.
