Chapter 57

• The sun is starting to set and thankfully, I’ve done as much as I can today after making travel preparations for me and a small group of pack members. I had talked with Damon after I cooled down from my heated talk with Arabella and he was hesitant to stay but couldn’t think of anyone else who was more capable so he didn’t fight my decision. I’m walking to my car and don’t smell Arabella here so she must have gone back to the house already, Griffin has been quiet, unlike him but I feel his anxiety with the thought of not just leaving them here but being so far away from them that we couldn’t hurry to them even if we wanted to.
• I pull into the driveway and see the lights are on inside the house so I take a small breath and repeat to myself to try and not snap at her because she’ll bite back and that won’t get us anywhere…I never thought that I would have to curb my patience so much and maybe it’s payback for all the stubborn lip I gave my parents growing up. I shake my head and take one more breath then get out of my car and head inside and I half expected to feel the cloud of tension, but it feels normal as I walk through the door so I take my shoes off and follow her sent to the kitchen and I practically hold my breath as I round the corner and see her making dinner.
