Chapter 42 SURPRISE VISIT

• I was so angry with myself for what I had done, what was I actually thinking when I carried Clara on my lap in the presence of those maid and all she could do was embarrass me. Even while we ate, the courage to look up at her or even talk to her wasn't there. I wanted to find a way to just leave the room, if possible disappear after noticing that she was looking at me, it seemed like she knew how embarrassed I was but still decided not to apologize. I was almost done with my food which I had been forcing myself to eat and wondered if she noticed that also. Suddenly I remembered that I was suppose to go and check on my guard and rose up immediately, walking towards the door with hands in my pocket. "She won't even ask where I was headed?" I said aloud while going down the stairs. On getting to my guard room, I saw him entering the mansion through the main door with an envelope in his left hand. My cheeks curled into a smile and turned back into a frown within a second. I could always trust my guards to get me all the information I needed about yesterday's event. He didn't even notice I had been standing at the stairs not until he got there. Immediately he saw me, he gave a bow and handed the envelope to me. " what's the name of the Mafia? " I asked him, opening the envelope to see what was inside.
• " Blood moon, sir" The name kept on ringing bells in my ear. The leader and I were rivalries, he had always tried to challenge me in one way or the other but I kept on ignoring his silliness. His dad and my dad were very close friends and he had always expected the same to be with us, but when I made it known to him that it wasn't possible, he started looking for ways to bring me down. He would always ask me "what makes you think you are better than me" This was one question I never reply. I was about to leave when my guard said " The man he killed was our member, who tried to betrayed us just to collect money from them and after they got the supposed information which they needed, they accused him of betrayal and killed him and his family" I became mad at what I just heard. Yes, the man that betrayed us deserved his death but why did they kill his family and other innocent people? " Sir, news has it that the massacre was carried out by our Mafia. They left some clue in the man's car to prove that it was our Mafia, they framed us" My ear couldn't contain what I had just heard.
