Chapter 76 Seventy Six

• After Jasmine left, Lila did not want to stay and feel suffocated in the house, even though she did not like the feeling; she knew there was nothing she could do about it, so the best thing to do would be to find a way out, and since she wanted to see her dad, she knew that this was a good opportunity for her to go out. She was worried about Levi; however, she knew that with the way he had been acting, he might not want her to go to the hospital, and she needed to try and sneak out of the house.
• She did it successfully and gave herself a pat on the back. When she got into the hospital room to see all the tubes connected to her father, she could not help but feel guilty that he had gone into this state because of the trouble she had caused. Her father was different from her mother, at least. He did not ever think to make her feel inadequate, even for one day, and it hurt to see him lie down like this without being able to be himself to the fullest. The weekly family meeting with all of their extended family stopped since the man lay down in bed like this.
• Lila did not know she had been sitting holding her father's hand for long until the nurse came to tell her that visiting hours were over, and since her father had a caretaker, she could not stay overnight. She would have taken the option at once if it meant being out of the stuffiness of the house. She did not want to go there.
