Chapter 33 Thirty Three

  • Lila staggered her hand, still clutching into her cheeks. It was strange that her mom was lifting her hands to her face and even going as far as hitting her across the face. She had always been vile with her words but never had she hit her before.
  • She turned her hand, still clutching her face. "Where do you think you are going?" She heard her mom's voice ring but her legs were doing the work for her.
  • Her hand gripped the door handle, and she pulled it open. She walked out of the room—it was her room—and she knew the right thing to do was to throw her mom out and lock herself in there, but her brain seemed to be coordinating on its own. She dropped her hands to her side, clutching the parts of her clothes she could hold as she walked wherever her legs could carry her.
