Chapter 40 Forty
- Shawn had seen Alicia heading to the training ground with the soldier behind her, and he felt that something was wrong, so he tried to wrap up what he was doing before heading there. Nothing could prepare him for seeing a soldier kick Alicia in the waist. His blood boiled, and he knew that if he could sense Storm, the wolf would have made him so mad that he would have acted first and asked questions later. For once, since the four days he had woken up, he was grateful not to feel connected to his wolf; otherwise, he doubted what the animal would have made him do while seeing his mate being bullied like that.
- “I never knew I was training bullies,” he said, walking up to them. As he got closer, he caught the scent of silver and quickly glanced at Alicia, noticing the tiny particles of silver glistening on her back. At that moment, she looked at him, and he was shocked to see her eyes were blue. It was clear proof that her wolf was in control, and he couldn’t believe how that could be possible with the silver on her. However, a scene of a snow-white wolf fighting people in a storage clouded his mind, and soon memories came pouring in—the memory of the white wolf signaling him to follow and him fighting some men, with silver dust being shut into him. Just like that, the memories he had been trying to recover for the past few days flooded his mind, and he finally recalled that Alicia was immune to silver. He had seen it that night, and he was seeing it now.
- Shawn hastily got a hold of himself, hiding his thoughts as he glared at Anastaisa. “What is the meaning of this?”
