Chapter 27 Twenty Seven
- Shawn had felt it strange when the barbarians started escaping. They had snuck into the town last night and although aware, he wanted to know what they were playing at it. So when he got the news that they were leaving, he ordered the standby soldiers to give chase. However, the more he sat in his office, the more he felt that it was a trap, so without further ado, he got up, took his motorcycle key, and told his right-hand man about his hunch. Driving to the scene at high speed, he saw the car parked at the roadside but he decided he would worry about it when he was done saving his soldiers’ asses. He would hate to lose even one, every one of his soldiers was important to him and he couldn’t afford to lose any, not if he could help it.
- He had seen the man pointing the gun at him, but he wanted to finish with the one he was handling so when the silver bullet pierced his torso, he grunted but he knew he would be done with the issue at hand before needing a medical checkup. He saw some barbarians dead on the ground without bullet wounds and he was already sensing that something was at play. So, when he sensed the barbarian behind him and saw him falling without him doing anything, he concluded that there was someone else with them, someone helping from behind the scenes.
- He searched around, seeing the hills, he knew the person would be behind one, they may be good at hiding, but no one can escape his sense of tracking, no one. So, he stealthily moved, judging from the direction the car was parked, he could already guess the hill the shooter would be hiding, so headed there. To his surprise, the shooter turned out to be a woman, he saw a bag lying beside her, filled with darts. She was staring at his men, still unaware of his presence. He wanted to kill her, but he couldn’t ignore the fact that she helped his soldiers and also since she was shooting at the barbarians, she had to be under the service of the king. Or, could she be a spy?
