Chapter 3 Three

  • Alicia sighed after listening to what her mother said, in as much she was right, it wouldn’t change the fact that she would love to find her fated mate, she would love to experience the true bond of being with her fated.
  • Sabrina picked Alicia's hands in hers. “Dear, Micah waited for his fated mate for thirty-two years, did he find her? No. Now, where is he? He is six feet under. Please, you are the only hope for our bloodline now, should anything happen to you, our entire existence would be wiped out, would you want that? How can you go to war when you are the only hope of our family? Do you want me to bury all my children?”
  • “Mom, you are talking as if it’s guaranteed that I would die.”
  • “I don’t want to risk it. I know our family has never lost someone in a war, but look at the tragedy that has befallen us, what if we have run out of our luck? What if the goddess is no longer on our side? Please, Alicia, I can’t lose you too. I’m already finding it hard to cope with your father and brother’s demise, please don’t add to it. I’m begging you.”
  • “Mom…”
  • Sabrina suddenly knelt on the floor, “please, Alicia.”
  • “Mom,” Alicia was shocked and quickly tried to help her to get up but Sabrina refused to and kept begging her. In the end, she couldn’t take it anymore and said, “fine, but where would you find the wolf?”
  • Sabrina instantly got up on hearing what she said. “Don’t worry, I will find him and I will also make sure that he promises to reject his fated mate. You will reject yours too, right?”
  • Alicia closed her eyes and sighed, what did I just agree to? She glanced at her mother and simply resigned to her fate when she nodded.
  • Sabrina smiled and hugged, “Thank you, my dear.”
  • Seeing that the situation had been resolved, Ben stood up. “Then I shall report to the King that the Blood Stone pack will have a new alpha in ten days. The Blood Moon would be rising in ten days so it would be convenient to have the wedding on that day so that they can mark each other. Please, be sure to fall into the timeline.”
  • “Of course,” Sabrina said. “Send our gratitude to the King for his gifts.”
  • “Of course, Luna Sabrina, Alicia,” Ben bowed and left the room. Alicia turned to her mother and hugged her. Even if she had just signed the rest of her life away, as long as it would make her mother at rest, she would gladly do it all over again.
  • ***
  • Three days later, Alicia stared at the fiftieth candidate who wanted to be her husband and she started regretting her life choices. Most of the able-bodied wolves gave up whenever they had they had to reject their fated mates should they find them, leaving only the simps who already knew they were no much value left in their lives.
  • She glanced at her mother as the wolf left the council room and the woman smiled apologetically. Sabrina never thought finding a husband for her daughter would be hard. Well, it wasn’t especially hard, it was just her condition was hard to meet. In their world, even if a man is married, once he finds his fated mate, he brings her room to co-exist with his chosen wife. However, everyone knows the fate of the chosen wife, after all, the male would always side with his fated over chosen. In the whole world, only a few chosen wives could comment on being treated equally with the fated, and when she said a few, she meant like one in a thousand.
  • While it’s common for men to bring home their fated mates, it was also a rarity to find their fated mate. If they were a hundred wolves, only five would be lucky to find their fated and so, most wolves marry, grow old, and die without finding their fated mates. So, even though Sabrina knew that it was a one-in-a-million chance for the male to find his fated, she didn’t want to take that chance with her daughter. And her reason? She had been married once but just a year into her marriage, her husband found his fated. He wanted to bring her home and force her to live with her, but being the alpha’s daughter, her father got her out of the marriage. And just three months later, she met Albert, who was her fated, married him and came to the Blood Stone pack.
  • Now that Albert was gone, and her sons too, should anything happen to her, there would be no one to protect her little girl. So, if she is to be married to a chosen mate, she must ensure that there won’t be future problems with a fated mate.
  • As the doors opened, Leo stepped in. On seeing him, Alicia asked, “No more candidates?”
  • “Actually, there are about a hundred more,” Leo smiled softly.
  • Alicia frowned, “then why are you here?”
  • Leo clicked his tongue and shrugged, “I’m one of them.”
  • “What?” Alicia didn’t believe him.
  • Leo sighed. “Alicia, Alister, and I grew up together, I know how much he loves you and cares about you and he was my best friend. The least thing I could do to honor our friendship would be to take care of his baby sister and look after his family pack. I know there is no love yet, but we both understand each other, so it won’t be hard. Actually, the truth is, I have been crushing on you but Alister wouldn’t hear of it.” He chuckled. “He always said how it would be difficult for him to call me brother-in-law.”
  • “Then why do you want to go against him now?”
  • “Alicia, I think Alister would be happier knowing you are with me than a strange man who is not your fated. Don’t you think so, Luna Sabrina?” He raised an eyebrow at Sabrina.
  • Sabrina turned to Alicia, she didn’t have to say anything because Alicia could read it very clearly in her eyes. Leo was the best candidate she had gotten so far, not only was he strong, but he is also a Gamma male, meaning that his blood would go well with hers, breeding fine, strong pups. However, what sounded ironic to Alicia was the fact that she had once crushed on Leo during her teen years, but the man hardly looked her away and so she gave up on later years, and now she is receiving a confession from the same man and her brother had been an obstacle?
  • ‘He is the best candidate, Alicia, we should take him.’ Sabrina said in the mind link to Alicia.
  • Alicia sighed and closed her eyes. “Leo, although the former candidates were sworn to secrecy about the one condition, I don’t know if they kept it. But do you think you can do it? I know you share the same belief with my brothers and I, to find your own fated mate hence why you are unmarried at twenty-seven. The condition is that you would reject your fated should you come across her, can you do that?”
