Chapter 38 Thirty Eight
- Theodore gave the cooks the order to make sure that Alicia never missed a meal and Philip gloated at the cooks before turning to Alicia to tell her not to move her hands and give her bone time to recover. After that, Alicia went back to her room to take a shower. She knew Anastasia would come back for her, but at the moment, she would savor the feeling of winning over.
- She hastily took a shower, and by the time she left the bathroom, the cook had delivered her food. It was quick and she guessed they must already have it around and just reheated it for her. She wondered how Shawn was as she ate; she hadn’t visited him since he was unconscious. It was not like she didn’t want to visit him, but she didn’t have a reason to. She can claim that she just wanted to check on him, but she doubts she would be allowed into his room. The news of his health is always released among the soldiers, so there was no way they would give her special treatment.
- As she ate her food, she found herself praying he should be alright, they can’t afford to lose him now, not until the war with the barbarians was finally over. She mulled over her words, actually, she couldn’t afford to lose him, not even after the war was over. Why she thought that, she had no idea. A phone’s ringtone disrupted her thoughts and she got up to search for the phone Greg has given her.
