Chapter 36 Thirty Six

• Five days went by in a blur, with Alicia blending in with the shadow soldiers. She trained with them, sparred with them and she could feel her strength increasing in just those few days. The soldiers training was intense and she was up for it. If she hopes on being an alpha, she has to be strong like an alpha. Anastasia hasn’t looked for her, and as much as the woman still sent her killer glares every now and then, she hadn’t played any tricks. Alicia figured that with Shawn introducing her as guest, Anastasia won’t be able to fool anyone again.
• Shawn hasn’t opened his eyes for these five days. The news of what happened at the border had reached the king the next day, and an emissary had arrived at the border later that evening. According to what she heard, the king had wanted Shawn to be moved to the palace, but Philip had rejected the idea. He had said that it would be fatal for them to move the Shadow Lord unconscious, as the barbarians might attack if they should hear of it. The emissary had left that day but returned as early as a bird the next morning. Alicia had thought the King rejected Philip’s words, but the emissary had been staying in the town since then.
• Alicia figured the King must have ordered him to wait until Shawn woke up. She noticed something with that little encounter, even though Shawn was rumored as the King’s blade, the King sure does love his baby brother.
