Chapter 57

• Even though the day before had been extremely bizarre, Lisa was almost terrified of what today might bring. She spent the majority of the day sequestered in Mason’s office, suffering as she sat and fidgeted in her chair. Mason was also damned if he wasn't overly busy.
• Three conference calls. He had to reply several calls in addition to two meetings. Unfortunately, there was no outrageously hot office sex to cool the fire. Even though it made her feel foolish, she was back to brooding. She was quite relieved when the game was over. She wanted to get this awful thing out of her system and leave the office immediately.
• She was going stir crazy. At least she had dinner with Chris always look forward to. Lisa rode with Mason at his insistence. He had his driver take her by her apartment before going on to his. The ride was mostly silent, but he kept hold of her hand the entire time. Almost as if he just needed that contact. And it was true, they’d seen little of each other that day.
