• She wanted a purely sexual relationship with him. He was unsure of his hesitation with her. They had done this whole arrangement before. But he was aware that this time was unique. She was hurt. He hurt her. However, this would keep Lisa in his life.
• He had endured hell during the last few days. It pained that he couldn't see her. He felt pain every time he thought of her. It hurt when he made an effort to not think about her. However, being with her or being apart from her hurt more. She kept looking up at him while he engaged in an internal struggle, watching for his next move.
• His hand trembled as he lifted it to cup her jaw. Her lips were touched by his thumb. Should he kiss her? He hadn't kissed another woman since he fell in love with her, but she wouldn't know it. He lowered his head as her eyes began to close. He hesitated a hair’s breadth between their lips.
