Chapter 44

• The same day after work, Lisa was in her car headed to town to purchase new appliances for her kitchen. Buying a stove and refrigerator might not be a big deal to some, but it would be a first for her. She was looking forward to it. She hardly did anything for herself and got paid for a month’s work. She wanted to make sure she got something worthwhile. Besides, it would get her mind off work and everything concerning Mason. It had been two days since she saw him, he was out of town for an impromptu meeting, and although she wanted to come, he figured it was probably best they not be out of the scene together. Now that Chris had just found out, they were working closely together.
• She chuckled, thinking of how her brother would react when he found out about their relationship. Was he ever going to consent to it? She couldn’t help but feel that nothing would come out of this; with how Mason expressed himself this morning, was he ever going to get that to dating again? She didn’t know. She just wanted to have him in her life, like this and be in his arms every other day. She just had to realize and accept her life was changing, and the good girl and naïve girl life she used to have was now gone.
• As soon as she entered the store, a salesperson was right on her heels, and it didn’t take long to make the purchases she needed because she knew just what she wanted. She’d always thought stainless steel had a way of enhancing the look of a kitchen and figured sometime next year. She would also give the kitchen a total makeover with granite countertops and new tile flooring. But she would take things one step at a time.
