Chapter 39
- The next morning Luna had breakfast with Roma while Gunner went to do an interview for the press for the opening events. They sat with Mischa chatting about what kind of life she could expect.
- “Roma, something’s bothering me about all this. I read in the Oracle that if Gunner and I were to marry and consummate he could forget me. It doesn’t explain what happens exactly. If that’s true I could never marry him. I hate that fact because I love him more than I’ve loved anyone. I haven’t told him, and I read the ritual blocks him from reading my mind about it. I couldn’t bear hurting him. The thing is, there was a missing page in the book. Is there more to it?”
- Roma sighed. “I am aware of the missing pages. I can only tell you when the time comes you won’t be able to stop the ritual from happening. The bond has already started and there is nothing that can stop you from being together and seeing it through. There will come a time when you have to choose the ultimate sacrifice of love, saving yourself, your Alpha, and ending the lone wolf’s suffering. You will take the final bond or lose everything you love. It is written in the Oracle; it is your destiny. It is true. When you consummate on your wedding night, you both will fall into a deep sleep before dawn. When you awake, it will be no more than a distant dream.”
