• “Luna, wake up!”
• Suddenly, Luna’s eyes popped open, and she gasped. Terror took over her features as sweat beaded on her forehead. “No. No! You’re like them! You, lying bastard! Stay away from me!” She shoved them away and got up from the bed, slapping Gunner across the face. “I saw your eyes! You growled at me. You were in my head. You lied to me.” She dropped to her knees, crying. “What’s happening to me?”
• With sadness he sat on the floor, pulling her over into his lap as she cried. “I thought I lost you. I’m so sorry.”
