Chapter 12

  • Gunner’s mansion - Lake Placid, New York…
  • The group arrived at Gunner’s home via his private plane after a flight from Chicago back to New York in the wee hours of the morning. Exhausted from the night’s events, Gunner carried Luna’s weakened body to his bedroom as his Tribe brothers followed. Bruised, battered, and broken she was sleeping peacefully from the medication she had been given at the hospital. To hear her soft breathing gave him comfort, after knowing how close she could have come to death.
  • The home was warm and cozy with a rustic cabin feel. Cobblestone and large wooden decor framed a large poster bed with rich browns and golds. A fireplace crackled in the corner of the room as rain and sleet fell on the windowpane. A blustery wind blew outside the lakefront home, making an eerie whistling sound that reflected the crew’s solemn mood. All of them were overwhelmed by the events of the last twenty-four hours, and to be in his warm home finally gave them a little peace.
