Chapter 64 Twice The Comfort
- Eliza winced as the medics jabbed anesthetic into her wounds. They paled in comparison to the stab and slash wounds, though, and thought they had yet to take effect, she felt as if she were in a total daze.
- The white lights of the infirmary were so bright they hurt her eyes. She was lying on a hospital gurney, propped up with pillows, and her leg was being held down by an attending nurse while the medic stitched her wound closed. She'd lost a lot of blood, but not enough for a transfusion. She had been told that the blade had missed an artery and that was why she wasn't dead, and also that the blade the assassin used was sharp enough to cut smoothly through the muscle, which might need further surgery by a qualified surgeon.
- Eliza just nodded along. Her eyes were on the large Alpha werewolf quietly fussing and protesting in the opposite side of the room, heart full of worry for him. She wished she could go over there and be with him, do something for him instead of just laying here uselessly.
