Chapter 28 Mediations
- The first thing Eliza noticed as she stepped into City Hall was the marble floor and pillars. It was shiny and smooth, polished to a high sheen so that they reflected the soft, bright glow of the LED lightbulbs that shone from above. Eliza had always known that Redcliff City Hall was an important building - it housed the offices of the mayor and his cabinet after all, plus the city council met here regularly. She wasn't surprised at how ostentatious it was, but it did make her think about how much taxpayer dollars went into these apperances.
- Together with Jenna, she helped her elderly grandmother out of the limo. Eliza stared blankly at her best friend. Something was up. Jenna hadn't teased her about her date nor pressed her for details like the last time she had gone on a date with Viktor. Eliza thought it was because she was on duty and had her 'Cop Face' on, but then again Jenna hadn't said anything the night before, either. Something was definitely up. She resolved to ask her about it after the meeting with the city officials.
- Ever since she was young, her grandmother had always taken her along to city hall for these meetings. One of the main functions of the Ordo Luna was to mediate between humans and werewolves, and these meetings were the main way in which they did so. They would meet with the Mayor, the City Council, the police and the military representatives, and the media to inform them on what was happening in the werewolf world. Later, at the Summit of the Packs happening later this month, they would essentially be doing the same but with the werewolf packs, bringing the wolves news of the happenings in the human world.
