Chapter 26 Nose To The Moon
- Primus Jenna Sharpe of the Silver Sisters was never going to be made detective. Most people assumed that since she was in the SWAT team she had what it took to be one, but to be honest SWAT and detective work were two different kinds of work. SWAT involved kicking down doors, yelling loudly at people while pointing guns, shooting, and more door kicking. Being a detective required skills like being perceptive, being good with people, knowing how to read clues and also making logical assumptions. Jenna could kick doors down all day long. It took a bit more patience than she had to detect stuff.
- It helped to do these things with a light and happy heart. As Jenna drove away from the fancy steakhouse - The Bateman-Dorsia! Who could have guessed! - after dropping her friend Eliza off, she felt her heart soar for her friend. She knew that Eliza was nervous about dating two werewolves at the same time, even though they were both her Fated Mates. There was a certain amount of stress involved when it came to dating someone, especially when you had feelings for two of them.
- Jenna knew from first hand experience that werewolves could be a handful when it came to handling their feelings, even if they were the dominant one of their relationship. The way she often told it to her human friends who hadn’t had the chance to date werewolves was to imagine a huge human sized husky dog. Oh yes, it’s adorable and fluffy and fun at first. But then it starts to get its tantrums. It starts to yip constantly at night, keeping you up and awake while it demands attention. It starts to pee on the furniture, or chew up your best shoes. And when that happens, you start to think of what it actually is: a hundred kilogram animal with teeth and claws that you could never hope to physically overpower. That should give you pause in case you forgot its birthday or misplaced its favourite squeaky toy. So what happens when you break its heart?
