Chapter 14 Nothing Is As It Seems
- Lunch was a welcome reprieve from the whirlwind that had been the day Eliza had with Lucas. She realised that she'd underestimated him, simply because he wasn't a big shot CEO of a multimillion dollar company like his father. Lucas never seemed to sit still, starting with the argument with the truck driver until the hospital visit. He was constantly on the move, always doing something, anything. It was clear to her that he was very popular with his party, but what was surprising was how well he seemed to be seen by the Redclaws as well.
- "There's good reason for that," he said, as they sat at a cafe sharing a plate of spaghetti bolognese and some buttercream coffee. "I did grow up as Viktor Redclaw's son, you know. It stands to reason that a lot of my father's pack has fond memories of me."
- "I have to admit I'm still surprised," Eliza said, sipping at her coffee, staring admirably at his handsome features over the rim of the cup. "Is it true that you still care about them?"
