Chapter 44 Clearing The Air
- Her first clue that the storm was abating was that the boat didn't seem to be rocking as hard as it had been. Eliza stayed in her seat, unsure if it was safe to undo the straps yet, but seeing Viktor become more and more confident and use less force to steer the wheel gave her some confidence.
- Eliza's thoughts went to the cabin, and all the furniture inside. It was sure to have all shifted around due to the movement of the boat. She wondered if the bed was still in its position, or if it was lying on its side. The bed where they slept...
- A thought came to Eliza as she sat in that seat, watching Viktor steer. She had to trust him to keep them safe, she realised. She had to trust him to do whatever he thought was best, because she knew he knew more than she did about sailing. But just as she had to trust him, he had to trust her. That was how relationships worked. Mutual trust, respect and understanding. So he had to trust her when she told him that the Mayor attending the summit was what was best for the werewolf community.
