Chapter 29 Speaking Up

  • The meeting room was large and spacious. The walls were lined with dark wood paneling that glowed faintly from the sun streaming through the windows on the side. On one end of the room stood a large mahogany table with high-backed leather chairs arranged around it in two rows; on the other end were four long couches set at right angles to each other, with smaller tables between them. The Mayor took a seat at the head of the mahogany table, while Eliza and Imelda sat close to his right side. Eliza helped her grandmother be seated before sitting down to her right. Titus sat opposite her, and by the looks of it he had recovered completely from the shock of Eliza's accusation.
  • Mayor Xavier Goodwin smiled around at the gathered officials, hand around the head of his cane, before beginning. "Greetings Reverend Mother Imelda and Sister Samhain of the Ordo Luna. You bless us with your presence. Thank you to Captain Titus Stornclaw of the Redcliff City Police Department, and to the rest of you, I bid you all welcome. Let us begin this official meeting with a recap of the minutes of the previous meeting..."
  • Eliza zoned out almost immediately. Fortunately, Imelda was on the ball as usual. As the minutes of the previous meeting were read, Imelda nodded along in agreement. Eliza remembered the previous meeting, which was just like this one - the priestesses and the human leaders would meet to exchange information and discuss the state of affairs between werewolf and humans, as well as discussing plans on how to resolve any issues that arose.
