Chapter 58 Alpha Human

  • Eliza had to admit that she was very surprised that the Summit was proceeding well. As she trailed Viktor and the Mayor into one of the various private meeting rooms in the Moonlight hotel, Eliza smiled to see the two powerful men, leaders of their communities, speaking with each other in friendly tones. It was heartening to know that, even after many years of distrust and misunderstanding between the two folk, there were those of goodwill and wisdom, and the strength of character to use that goodwill and wisdom to put others before themselves and their own selfish interests.
  • Viktor led them into an opulent room with a large wooden table. In the middle of the table, engraved in gold, was a crescent moon symbol. Rumsfeld was already waiting inside, bowing to both of them as he stood near the seat which was most likely Viktor's. Bottles of water and some light refreshments, small pieces of biscotti and cookies, along with a few steaming pots of coffee and tea, were set aside on a small counter by the far wall. Viktor sat and invited the Mayor to join him, closing the door behind them.
  • Eliza sat at the third seat, wondering if she was a bit out of her depth here. Once again she wondered if she should have insisted her grandmother join them, even after the Grand Matriarch had refused. "Oh you'll be fine, sweetpea," she'd chuckled and walked away. Imelda had said that she wanted to go take a walk and see the beautiful gardens around the hotel. Even now she was probably staring out contentedly over a field of flowers and trees while Eliza was here between two men who could determine the fates of millions in Redcliff City.
