Chapter 40 Two Faced
- Viktor watched silently as the Silver Sister Jenna walked out of his office, accompanied by Rumsfeld. He didn't like having to divulge potentially sensitive information to her. If even one of his directors' flights were leaked to a competitor - or worse, those vultures in the stock market - then his company's stock might tank as speculation over deals, mergers and acquisitions grow. But Viktor did not have any choice. Pissing off the Ordo Luna was a far worse fate than having his company's share price go below a hundred dollars.
- But he was curious about what that little investigation was supposed to be about. Previously, he'd never had to deal with the Primus of the Silver Sisters, either with this one or her predecessors, unless it had to do with security and usually Rumsfeld took care of that. Did they have powers to pursue an investigation into the werewolf community? They'd previously left that sort of thing, like criminal investigations, to the police. To think that this one was investigating as if she were a cop was concerning.
- "What do you make of that, Rumsfeld?" Viktor asked when his valet appeared suddenly inside his office. That habit of Rumsfeld's had stopped amazing him. Birds fly, fish swim, and Rumsfeld has instant transmission powers. It's a fact of life for Viktor Redclaw.
