Chapter 54 The Summit Of The Packs Begins

• The Summit of the Packs begins tonight.
• The Moonlight Hotel is busy as an anthill on fire. Various black limousines and luxury cars pull up to the front entrance, depositing men and women dressed in expensive business casual clothes. Bellhops scurry to and fro, carting luggage and bags around on trolleys. Receptionists do not stop smiling as they make small talk and deal with their customers' booking. A pianist plays various classical pieces on a grand piano in the corner, filling the air with calm, pleasing music.
• In the security room, however, the mood was tense as ever. Primus Jenna Sharpe hadn't taken her Cop Face off for about a week, and didn't plan to until she saw the last of the visiting Alphas' furry behinds out the door. Her eyes were bloodshot and her hair was tousled and unkempt, and she was pretty sure her shirt had three coffee stains in the collar and another two on the sleeve, but what did that matter? She hadn't slept well in the nights leading up to the summit. Ever since the attack in the parking garage, she hadn't had the luxury of letting her guard down. Silently, watching the alphas mill about in the lobby through her security feeds, Jenna prayed the event would go smoothly.
