Chapter 6 New Girl

  • Lily’s POV
  • After I got down at the bus station, I went to the supermarket to buy the ingredients for our dinner. I was waiting for a cab when I saw Vincent inside a café and talking to somebody inside. I pretended that I didn’t see him and continued to hail a cab.
  • “Maybe it’s just one of his clients,” I told myself.
  • Vincent was a wedding planner after our wedding, he asked for money from his parents, and he built a business. He has had a passion for it since we arranged our marriage, so he talks to his family about his plan after the wedding.
  • Vincent’s parents were so generous and supportive of him. They’re also thinking about the future of our family, especially for our daughter Angela. So when Vincent asked for money to build his small business, there’s no second thought. They immediately give what Vincent has for them.
  • After fifteen minutes of walking, I finally got home. I pressed the button to enter the password of the door, I saw my daughter busy coloring her book in the living room. My daughter is four years old. She has thick straight black hair, a round face with round black eyes, long eyelashes, a pointed nose, heart shape lips. And maybe she got her lips from his biological father. She has dimples that she gets from me.
  • I went straight to the kitchen. As soon as I put down the plastic bags. I call my daughter’s attention. “Angela mommy is home.”
  • Angela immediately turned as soon as she heard me calling her. “Mommy, you are back,” she shouted as she stands up and runs to me. I crouched and hug my daughter. She kissed me in my cheeks lovingly.
  • “Do you miss mommy?”
  • “Of course, I miss you so much, mommy. And I love you very much.”
  • “I love you more, my princess.” I hugged her tight and carried her as I kissed her on the cheek and neck.
  • Angela giggled. “Mommy it ticklish me. Please stop.”
  • “How do you feel now? Your granny said you’ve got a fever that’s why you didn’t go to school?”
  • “I feel better now,” she said. “I can go to school tomorrow. I’m not sick anymore.”
  • “Sure as long as you finish the porridge that I will make for you tonight,” I said. “and take your medicine.” I added. By the way, where’s your grandma?”
  • “She’s inside her room.”
  • As if on cue, my mother’s stepped out of her room. She was holding her phone and speaking to someone.
  • “Your aunt called and invited us to your cousin’s wedding,” my mother said and approach us.
  • “When is the wedding?” I asked as I stand straight to kiss my mother’s cheek.
  • “In two months,” she replied.” And sit next to Angela on the sofa.
  • “Alright mom,” I said. “Let’s see if I can come with you or not. You know my situation. I just got this job today.”
  • “Yes dear, That’s what I told your aunt. I gave the number of Vincent to her. They will call him to organize the wedding of your cousin.”
  • “That’s great. for sure, Vincent will be happy.”
  • “I will call your husband to inform him, so he could give them a discount,” mom said and laughed.
  • After I talked to my mother, I went into my room and lowered the bag to the side of the bed. Opened the wardrobe to get my clothes.
  • I just wore a plain white t-shirt and floral pink shorts. It’s still early to cook,
  • I’ll take a nap for a few minutes. I laid myself in the bed. I feel so tired all day as I tossing and turning in the bed. For maybe half an hour, I decided to get up and left the room. I saw my daughter and my mother eating chips and watching their favorite tv series in the living room.
  • I smiled. “I can give them now a better life without bothering Vincent so much.”
  • _______________
  • Adrian’s POV
  • I was checking the documents on my table when my phone rang. When I checked it, it was my mom who’s calling.
  • “Hello, Adrian.”
  • “Yes mom? What is it?”
  • “Just to remind you that you’re going to have dinner here in the house, I called because I was worried that you forgot it again like before.” My mom sounded irritated in the other line.
  • “Alright mom,” I laughed. “you don’t have to worry, I promise, I will join the dinner with the lady you invited to introduce to me.”
  • “Alright, I won’t bother you anymore. I will wait for you here,” she said.
  • He checks the time on his cell phone before he put it down on the table. It’s fifteen minutes before five in the afternoon. He arranged the documents on his desk and prepared to leave.
  • “Let’s go,” I said to Mary Ann. We went straight to the parking lot and opened the car door for Mary Ann. “Careful,” I said as she got in.
  • I know I shouldn’t be doing this, but Mary Ann isn’t just my personal assistant, but my friend as well.
  • “Thank you, sir,” she said and smiled. “That’s the reason why there are rumors about us.”
  • I laughed. “So tell me where’s the place?”
  • After telling me the place, Mary Ann’s phone rang. It was John, I know.
  • “Hello, babe,” Mary Ann asked. “Adrian will drive for me. Are you already there?”
  • “No, babe. I called to tell you that we could not continue to go there.”
  • “But why? what happened?” Mary Ann frowned. “Alright,” she replied and looked at me.
  • “What happened?” I asked immediately as Mary Ann lowered her phone.
  • “John called, he said our appointment was canceled, he asked me to tell to just drop me at the next bus stop. He’s going to pick me up from there.”
  • “All right,” I replied with a nod. “I will wait until John arrived, call him and ask where he is.”
  • “He’s on his way,” Mary Ann said and looked at the back. “Oh, he’s here.”
  • Mary ann got out of the car and went to John’s car. As soon as John’s car left, I drove away and went straight to my parent’s house. I’m anticipating a girl waiting for me in the dining or in the living room, but whoever she is, she’ll never get my heart.
  • I arrived just before seven. I stepped into our foyer and saw a woman sitting in our living room. I guess the woman was only twenty-five years old. She got a slender body and a pretty face.
  • My mother saw me. “My son is already here,” she said. “Son, this is my friend’s daughter. Her name is Eva.”
