Chapter 7 – The Trial
- We finished our coffee in silence, shared the sandwiches he had given me earlier, and I was glad that he didn’t ask any more questions. The silence felt comfortable with him. If I had a family, I’d be proud to have a brother like him, but under the circumstances, I’m just glad he’s watching me and not Liam, for example. Who knows what kind of gift I might get the next time I meet him. Otherwise, if I still had as much energy as I do now, I could go for a kill next time. - ‘It’s time, let’s go.’ Shawn spoke out of nowhere, and I saw his eyes change from a blank look to one of concentration. I guess he got the order through a mind link.
- I nodded, stood up and waited for him to show me the way. He stood up as well, but before he started walking, he looked at me again, as if doubting something for a moment.
