Chapter 37 Missteps

• POV – Brandon
• I released a bolt of lightning towards Daniel, but at the same moment a dark female figure appeared behind him, and when she raised her hand and muttered something, the lightning vanished in an instant, as if it had struck the invisible shield. Daniel smiled at me without moving from his spot, but the woman looked me in the eye and as she muttered some other spell, she pointed her finger at me. Suddenly Carol appeared next to me and did the same thing as the other woman, except she didn‘t point her hands at anyone. She held them together as if she was praying. She closed her eyes and at the same time the attacks, which appeared as thousands of flying thorns, disappeared centimetres from my face.
• A woman in a black coat with long nails of the same colour widened her almost white eyes and looked at Carol as if she had just recognised her.
