Chapter 23 – Persecution
- The next few days passed slowly as Brandon, Shawn and Liam were busy looking for imposters and checking each member in many different ways. It was tedious because this pack is huge and has many members. The first people they checked for were David, Dylan, Keith and Dr. Michael. After Brandon made sure we could trust them, he gave them the details of the meeting so they could help check other members. I couldn’t be of any use in this case since I didn’t know the pack members well enough yet, so I dealt with thinking of how to get permission to meet Silver Mist on their land, how to capture Alpha Daniel, and a few other things.
- Sara was feeling much better, but still wasn’t ready to talk to her parents, even though they tried to catch her every day at every opportunity. As she tried to avoid them, she kept dragging me along to training, to her hospital practise and so on. Every day, after all that, I kept locking myself in the office with maps and notes. I wanted to help, but my head hasn’t been working the way I wanted it to for a while. Although the training was good for clearing my head, there was one more thing that was bothering me. I didn’t feel it before, but these days I feel like I’m being persecuted. I don’t know how to explain it, but every time I went somewhere alone, I felt like someone was watching me. A few times I caught Sara’s mother Elena doing things, and every time I caught sight of her, she lifted her head and nodded with a smile, as if to say hello. But how would she know when I was looking at her? I sighed. Maybe I was getting too paranoid.
- One morning, as I sat outside on a bench drinking coffee, I mind linked Sara.
