Chapter 56 Faith

• POV – Brandon
• The last few weeks dragged by so slowly that it felt like a year to me. Alice showed no signs of awakening and my faith began to waver. I wasn’t sure of anything anymore, it was hard to see her like this every day. No changes. Not at all. For a moment I even thought she would stay like this for the rest of my life. I wanted to believe. I really did. The longing was killing me. But all the days were exactly the same. Darkness surrounded me and I felt more like a robot than a human for a while, until one day everything changed. I don’t know what happened or how, but her heartbeat changed. Her skin was no longer so pale and new hope began to blossom in my heart. I saw a little light at the end of the dark tunnel. Finally.
• I began to pay more attention to her facial features in order to recognise even the smallest changes. I did the same in the last few weeks, I stayed with her every night, but I probably missed something because I didn’t see these changes…...
