Chapter 6

  • KATIE's POV:
  • I turned to see how had the voice and came face with the most beautiful woman I've ever seen.
  • She was simply too beautiful that words could not describe her. Her blond and silver hair fell in wavy curls and her bright blue eyes which seemed to resemble Jace, captured my very soul.
  • Despite her older-looking features, I couldn't help but appreciate her beauty.
  • "Beautiful" I muttered, incoherently. I immediately used my hands to cover my mighty.
  • I didn't mean for that to come out.
  • "Hello, Katie" her voice was like flowers blowing to the gentle wind of summer.
  • "Ah, perfect timing, Luna Elodie," Caden was the one to say this, his eyes gleaming with a hint of annoyance. "Just when we needed you" his voice doesn't sound pleased and even more; annoyed.
  • Luna Elodie as they called her cut her intense and piercing gaze from me and turned to face Caden. "It's nice to see you again, My Son"
  • Another shock went through my body and I watched all three of them in front of me. This young woman birthed these two giants?
  • "I can't say the same in my opinion" Caden turned his eyes away from Luna Elodie and I knew for a fact he didn't get along with any of his family.
  • "Mother, I brought her here as promised" Jace was the one to speak now, his voice holding happiness.
  • "Good. Katie Bradshaw," she said, her voice dripping with an air of superiority. "Finally I get to see you. Have told me a lot about you!"
  • I stared up at Jace, my face confused. How did Jace know about me? I only met him today.
  • Luna Elodie scanned me from head to toe, her expression unreadable "You're quite the interesting specimen you know? Accused of murder, and yet, you possess the scent of innocence."
  • I frowned, confusion etched on my face. "What do you mean? I didn't kill any of those people!" I wasn't to be blamed for something I didn't do or something I can't remember doing.
  • Luna Elodie smiled, her eyes glinting with amusement. "You, my dear beautiful girl, are a wolf shifter, just like all of us in This pack." She spoke and I listened.
  • A few hours ago, I wouldn't believe any of this and only think of it as a practical annoying joke but I've seen and experienced a transformation into a wolf. I transformed into one.
  • I wanted all of this to be a dream, for me to just wake up on my bed again, covered with blood and dirt as always but no matter how hard I pinched myself, I was still here which proves this was the hard reality.
  • My once someone's life has changed forever.
  • "…….. Are you listening girl?" I heard Luna Elodie ask and I focused my attention on her again, snapping out of my head.
  • "W-what?" I stammered a question back at her, confused about what you're saying.
  • Luna Elodie smiled but I could see a hint of annoyance in her eyes. "You won't understand any of this now but one day you will. You're a rare and special werewolf breed"
  • My eyes widened in disbelief. "That's impossible. I'm just a normal human."
  • Luna Elodie chuckled. "Ah, self-denial. I know that but that's where you're wrong, Katie. From the moment you transform into a werewolf, you're no longer normal or even a human. You're one of us now"
  • I shook my head, refusing to accept what they were saying. This has to be the biggest joke
  • This can't be true.
  • Elodie shifted her head to the corner, "And your fellow Police colleagues, they're not accusing you of murder without reason."
  • My heart raced as I processed her words, my eyes widening. "What do you mean by that?" I was afraid to ask the question. "Did I...did I really kill them?"
  • Luna Elodie's expression turned serious. "That's what we aim to find out. But first, you need to understand your true nature and the power that lies within you."
  • "O-okay" I swallowed my saliva, nervousness making my stammering thicker.
  • Luna Elodie smiled. "Alright. My sons are going to take care of you, seeing as Caden is here to stay……"
  • She wasn't able to complete her statement as Jace pitched in. "What? Caden is not staying here. I only allowed him to come here to see Katie safe. He is going now"
  • "Leave my pack, brother"
  • The amount of hatred that came out of Jace's mouth as he called his brother was too much. I could only wonder what made them hate each other so much.
  • "Make me!" Caden said, a small smirk playing at the corners of his lips.
  • Jace gritted his teeth, his eyes shining with untold ferocity. "Rogues are not allowed in my pack, Caden."
  • Rogues?
  • What are those? And why was Jace calling him a rogue?
  • "What are ro-rogues?" I asked, stopping them in their argument.
  • Jace smiled like he had earned a victory card. "You're looking at him. They're mindless Werewolves who have lost all their humanity and given in to their wolf urge. And Caden here happens to be the king of rogues".
  • "Disgusting creatures," Jace spoke out in spite, his eyes narrowed in on his twin brother.
  • Caden's smirk grew wider, his eyes glinting with an unspoken amusement. "Ah, brother, always the one so quick to judge. You're wrong in one thing, brother. As you can see, I've got my humanity intact, and I'm here to prove it."
  • Luna Elodie raised her hand, her voice firm. "Enough, boys. You guys can settle your differences some other time. Katie, come with me, we have much to discuss."
  • I looked at Elodie and hesitated, unsure of what to do. But the fact that Luna Elodie's commanding presence and her commanding tone drew me in and forced me to obey. I followed her out of the room and only turned back to see Jace and Caden staring at me as I walked away.
  • "You have to know everything, Katie. And how we all came to know about you" Luna Elodie explained every other detail about the werewolves and their different breeds and their abilities.
  • I listened attentively, curiosity getting the better of me. The information was simply too much but I wanted to know more.
  • We reached a small cottage on the far outskirts of the pack settlement, and Luna Elodie led me inside. The cottage was cozy, filled with books and strange artifacts.
  • "Welcome to my place of peace. I stay here to get over the pack's drama. I like my peace. Oh dear, sit" She said, seeing me standing as she gestured to a chair.
  • My mind reeled with anticipation as my heart raced, still processing all the information.
  • Was this who I truly am? Would I learn about myself from these werewolves?
  • Luna Elodie smiled, her eyes gleaming with kindness. "I know everything has been too muddled for you lately and I can hear the worries that's going on inside your head but we're here. We will watch over you"
  • I listened to every word she said and nodded. She was speaking the truth. Things were piling up and I didn't know if my fragile self could take any more of this.
  • "Hey, you can let it out now. Let the pain out and the tears flow freely. You don't need to bottle it in" Luna Elodie said, her voice understanding.
  • "You've lost those you considered parents and I feel your pain. Just let it out"
  • And I did, I let all the pain I've accumulated all this while fall as I wailed.
