• “Come with me,” Eloise said, her tone leaving no room for argument. She guided Aunt Sally through the trees, carefully avoiding the paths the soldiers might take. They moved swiftly but silently and after what felt like an eternity, they reached the edge of the woods where Eloise’s car was hidden among the shadows.
• “Get in,” Eloise urged, opening the door for her. Aunt Sally climbed into the back seat as Eloise quickly got behind the wheel. The engine started with a low hum, and within moments, they were driving away, the woods and the chaos they left behind fading into the distance.
• Eloise pulled up to the hospital entrance, the car coming to a gentle stop. She quickly stepped out and rounded to the passenger side, opening the door for Aunt Sally. She carefully stepped down, her face a mixture of exhaustion and relief.
