Chapter 5

  • KATIE's POV:
  • We ran for a considerable distance and when I thought everything was fine and I was safe, the wolf that was once Jace suddenly lunged at the black wolf, teeth bared.
  • I watched in horror as the two powerful wolves fought and bit each other. Fighting for complete dominance.
  • I could hear everything they were speaking as they mind-linked and my eyes widened in horror.
  • "You, Bastard. You came here to claim my mate?" Jace raged, his golden eyes gleaming with animalistic ferocity.
  • The black wolf remained calm, its body rising above the grey wolf standing before him. "She's my mate and not yours" If they were in human form, I'm sure I would see the guy that was the black wolf smirking.
  • Jace growled, his grey furs glinting in the small sunlight sipping through the cracks of the forest. "She's mine. You're not taking anything for me, Brother".
  • My eyes widened as I heard the word. The black wolf was Jace's brother?
  • Why are they fighting and having a huge conflict?
  • I tried to do something, seeing both of them fighting for me as they called me their supposed mate.
  • "Guys, stop it please" I tried to say but they blankly ignored me as they charged at each other.
  • The black wolf was obviously stronger and larger and even Jace could see that. But Jace used his speed to his advantage, maneuvering the black wolf's deadly attack. But that came to a pause when the black wolf finally got a hold of Jace's neck in between his jaws. He bit down and my eyes widened in shock as the final killing blow was about to land.
  • I knew that I didn't know this beast or people or anything they were but Jace saved my life, including the black wolf. I knew I had to do something.
  • "Stop it, both of you" I mind-linked, my internal voice coming out more powerful than I expected. I was shocked.
  • They immediately stopped their fighting and looked at me, more like obedient dogs. I took a calming breath:
  • "You don't have to fight over something so nonchalant. Please. We can settle this dispute in a way of mannerism"
  • The grey werewolf, Jace snorted. "We can only settle this dispute if Caden were to leave and never return to my pack"
  • The black werewolf whom I now know as Caden transformed into his human form and I was struck by his beauty and most of all, his naked form. His muscular chest and piercing green eyes. He looked almost exactly like Jace, just a little bit more muscular and with a dangerous atmosphere that surrounded him.
  • He was beautiful.
  • But I prevented looking below his torso.
  • "Your pack? Do you want me to remind you of who truly owns the pack?" His voice was dangerously low and I felt a shiver run down my spine.
  • "Both of us, Jace. Half of that pack belongs to me and if you dare tell me to go away from the pack, then I'll have no choice but to earn my birthright and take half of the pack" He finished with a menacing glare.
  • I saw Jace drop his shoulder and his wolf's face saddened. "Alright" and with that, Jace ran off into the forest.
  • He turned backward, his eyes locked into mine. "Follow me."
  • I didn't waste anything more than running with him.
  • I've been running for what felt like forever. The only thing I could register right now was pain. It filled my body and surrounded me like a blanket but this type, not one of comfort but of utter torture.
  • I've been asking Jace where we were going for almost an hour now but he only ignored me, sometimes mind-linking that we were almost there.
  • I knew it was the pack but how far was it? I could feel my paws burning.
  • Jace actions had been weird immediately the huge black werewolf emerged and saved my life. From their fight, I knew the brothers who shockingly were twins never liked each other and held a powerful conflict between them, older than I could think.
  • I turned my Wolf head to Caden, who was running behind me, his attention focused on me. I immediately diverted my gaze, scrutinized by his piercing gaze.
  • The tress of the forest began to lessen until we emerged upon a clearing and I was shocked at what my eyes saw.
  • It was beautiful.
  • Many houses surrounded the clearing in a straight line and all were directed to a huge mansion in the middle. Its wall rose high above the skies and the view was visible across the grove in which they stood.
  • It was like a small modern town, standing towering and mighty and different from the city I always knew. This was a place I had never even seen.
  • "Welcome to my pack Settlement." Jace said as he walked gracefully down the slope and into the 'Pack' as he called it.
  • We entered the pack house as they called it and arrived at the huge common room.
  • "Okay, Katie. I want you to shift back to your human form. Can you do that?" Jace asked, his voice stern.
  • I nodded, hesitant but before I knew what was happening, Jace stood up in his human form, in all his naked glory as did Caden.
  • I blushed, turning my head to try to cover my eyes. "Wear some clothes"
  • Jace laughed. "It's normal once you get used to it. Once you transform back to your human form, you'll be naked.
  • "Is that what would happen to me?" I asked in horror, not wanting to go back into my human form but the first was beginning to itch.
  • He nodded and I blushed from embarrassment. I didn't want to be naked in front of this perfect man standing in front of me.
  • They were now wearing only shorts, exposing their perfectly toned body.
  • "You have to transform back. It's easy. Just think of when you were human, your paws changing into hands and feet, your spine straightened and erect. Feel the flow of energy within you and it'll guide you"
  • I nodded at Jace's words, listening intently.
  • "But I'll only do that if I was given clothes" I deadpanned.
  • The two men laughed and called a maid to bring in some towels. They covered me with it and I did as Jace said. I focused on the energy flowing within my veins, letting it engulf me while thinking of my former 5'3", unclear eyes and petite body. It's what I wanted right now.
  • I felt my bones breaking and reshaping making me scream in pain. I shrank and the furs in my body replaced with normal hair and I felt my long hair fall all over my face.
  • The towel still covered my body and I immediately tightened it to conceal and maintain my dignity.
  • "Now that's good. You're a fast learner. You'll do well to be my student. I can train you" Caden said, his eyes filled with concentration as he looked at me with his scrutinizing gaze, making me blush.
  • "Never would I allow that. She's staying with me" Jace interjected. "Mind you, you're not staying here for long".
  • I watched the brothers argue and couldn't help but sigh. They sound like bickering children which left me to wonder what made them hate each other this way.
  • "B-boys" I called, my stammering returning. They stopped their bickering and stared down at me. "S-stop this bickering. I-I want you to tell me w-what happened? Why are my Colleagues accusing me of m-murder?" My stammering got worse the more nervous I became.
  • I was deeply confused about what happened and demanded answers. Why did Eloise blame me for something I didn't do?
  • Or was I the one who killed them?
  • I was conflicted and these men were the only ones who could help me and they better answer me.
  • My voice was strong and my stammer was gone "Why was I being blamed for everything and how did you find me?"
  • Before any of them could talk, I felt a weird presence behind me.
  • "Everything would be told to you, dear Katie Bradshaw!"
