Chapter 42

  • Connor obviously didn't believe Colt. That was something that he was going to have to earn. So he was put up in a house with no children and three warriors living in that house who were going to be hovering over him 24 hours a day. And they weren't going to be subtle about it. Connor wanted him to know that he wasn't trusted.
  • Especially not coming from my father's pack. But we listened to what he said, and he told us everything that he could about this government agency that my father had enlisted help from, and it didn't sound like any other government agency that we had ever heard of before. It was something so much worse. They knew all the tricks in dealing with werewolves, vampires, witches...everything that wasn't human. It was really scary to hear, actually. I never really thought an agency like that existed.
  • But I was wrong, and I was now going to pay the price for it. Connor and I were staying at Miles' house for the time being, and we were in bed that night trying to get some sleep, but it was hard for both of us. We were trying to shut our brains off about what was coming for us, but it was too hard. We had too many enemies, and we hadn't done anything to any of them.
