Chapter 28

• With two months down and one to go, Jake put a letter from Ryan on Sarah’s pillow every morning before going to work. Sarah was doing okay, but she could be heard crying at night. She looked tired a lot but still managed to graduate high school and start college classes. She had classes two days a week and spent the rest of the time helping with her three brothers and housework.
• The last month that Ryan was gone, Sarah really threw herself into her college classes. She was going for a vet assistant, and if she liked it, she wanted to become a vet. She left the house with a warrior at all times, and he kept an eye out for any possible threats and her sick father.
• In the last week before Ryan came home, Rose came through the door in tears and shaking.
