Chapter 94

• Kennet opened his bewildered eyes, looked around, and realized where he was. It was a hospital room. He extended his gaze and saw Jade dozing off with a little bundle in her arms. He couldn't resist the temptation to get out of bed. He heard himself as he remembered how he had fainted at the sight of the baby being born, it was a very strong impression, which made him wonder, "How brave they are! How can they endure such pain to bring those infernal monsters into the world?"
• He reached her side and noticed the color of the blankets, they were pink, which meant it was a girl, he thought. He furrowed his brow with curiosity, trying to find an explanation for the fact that there were blankets and the baby was beautifully dressed. Where had they gotten them from? He pushed those thoughts out of his mind and focused his attention on seeing the little one, who slept happily in her mother's arms.
• Kennet approached her and as he did, the little one opened her eyes wide, fixing her gaze on him. He felt his heart skip a beat in his chest when he saw her impressive eyes, one green iris and the other blue, one like her mother's and the other like his... "What the hell am I saying? Why is this brat going to have an eye like mine? Am I an idiot?" He mentally scolded himself.
