Chapter 33

Nerves invaded Jade, she felt like she would faint at any moment. She had to come up with a believable lie, forcing her brain to work on her defense while also praying to God not to be discovered. After all, she wasn't acting out of malice, she was acting out of love. Love for the man who had given her everything and had made her his daughter. He was her motivation for everything she did.
"Damn you, woman!" he exclaimed furiously. "Why do you have the bad habit of staying silent when I demand an explanation? Are you slow to understand what is being said to you?"
Those words served to push Jade's nerves away and replace them with anger.
