Chapter 8
- "Unfortunately, he doesn't know how to give affection, understanding, or love, because he never received it, no one can give what they don't have. He, as they say, was abandoned by his mother, who left with a younger man, leaving him with a demanding father who blamed him for the mother's abandonment and taught him to be as cruel as he is. That woman left taking only the youngest child and leaving him forgotten, that's why he harbors intense hatred towards women, he doesn't respect them and treats them like doormats, although to be honest, I think he's getting angrier with you and I don't understand why.
- " What happened to him is no excuse for him to mistreat others, no one is to blame for his misfortunes, he has no right to behave like an idiot, insensitive, that shows his weak and mean nature " she saw her friend making fun, but didn't understand until she had spoken that her boss was behind her, she turned around and saw him looking at her with deep hatred.
- " Besides being inefficient, you're a damn gossip. Let's see if you're so brave. Dare to tell me what you were saying about me to my face " Jade was so scared that the color drained from her face, leaving her completely pale, feeling like she would collapse at any moment.
- The girl nervously clasped one hand with the other, trying to think of a way to get out of that situation, but nothing came to mind. It seemed like her brain had gone completely blank.
- "So, are you going to repeat what you were saying to my face, or are you too cowardly for that, or did you swallow your tongue?" he interrogated imperiously.
- "I... I wasn't referring to you... I was talking about something else," Samantha spoke before he could continue justifying himself.
- "Boss, she wasn't talking about you. She was telling me about a novel she was reading last night, and the protagonist treated the people around him badly because of traumatic experiences from his past," the young woman explained, trying to hide her nervousness.
- The man narrowed his eyes and furrowed his brow, expressing disbelief on his face.
- "I want you to send this woman to the general archive, where physical documents are stored, have them digitized, I don't know, send her wherever you want and let her do whatever she wants, but I don't want her near me. I dislike her presence, I can't stand her, she turns my stomach," he affirmed angrily.
- "But she's going to be your new secretary, and I need..." Samantha tried to justify.
- "Now you've also become slow because of associating with this woman. If you don't follow my order, I think your pre and post rest won't be for a couple of months but forever. I don't want to see her, at least not today," he said before retreating to his office.
- "I'm sorry, Jade, but I have to follow his orders. That place hasn't been entered in a long time. In fact, he's doing it to bother you because there are only dead files from when his father and Mr. Mark Howard founded the company. There's probably a lot of dust. I'll give you a mask and gloves. I swear if it were up to me, I wouldn't send you there, but that man is uncompromising, and if I don't do it, I'll suffer the consequences," she said, feeling uneasy about what she was doing, as she led her to the dead file area.
- Half an hour later, Jade started working there, scanning and organizing folders that had nothing to do with home automation, but rather with the company's beginnings as a seller of technological supplies. Despite taking precautions, such as being allergic to dust, she soon started sneezing and her nose started running. However, she stayed there following the given instructions.
- Moments later, Jade's eyes welled up with tears, her face contorted in pain, and a tightness gripped her chest. The symptoms intensified as minutes ticked by, her coughing grew harsher, and breathing became labored.
- Panic set in; she knew she had to escape. As she staggered towards the exit, dizziness overcame her, and she crumpled to the floor, her vision blurring. The room seemed to close in around her, leaving her fate uncertain.
