• I’m sitting in the room putting the last touches on my makeup with my friends. My heart feels so full and light, but my stomach is in knots. Why am I so nervous? We’re practically married already. This is just doing it before the world. I take a deep breath and try to steady the flurry in my tummy.
• “Mai..” I glance at Kenya, who is rolling uncomfortably in her chair; she is seven months pregnant and is not too happy right now. “This is so unfair. Why did you get married while I’m still pregnant.” I roll my eyes and turn back to the mirror.
