Chapter 13

• Zayne is carrying me; it seems like he is worried because I can hear his heart pounding in his chest. I open my eyes as he gently places me in the car.  I’m slightly startled when I see him inches away from my face. He stares into my eyes as he gently strokes my cheek. 
• "Are you okay? Did he hurt anywhere?" I can hear the panic in his voice, but I cannot respond because my mouth does not want to work. I am fine. I just had too much to drink. That is what I want to tell him but cannot. I remain mute, staring at him. He shuffles hurriedly, pulling his phone from his pockets. He turns on the flashlight and shines it in my right eye. I jerk my head back, closing my eyes as I push his hand away.
