• “That was amazing,” Sam moans with pleasure as we pile into the car.
• “It was,” I agree immediately. I didn’t want to leave my baby, and I missed him all day, but the spa was good, and spending time with my friends is always fun. “Oh, I went to pay the bill, but they said it was already taken care of.” I look at them suspiciously; they are all from middle-class families, so I can’t imagine them having that kind of money. Truth be told, I wouldn’t either if dad didn’t give me a black card. I have never used it before, but I figured today would be a good splurge.
• “Your man took care of it,” San replies with a grin. It surprises me, but it is a good surprise; that was so sweet of him, so that’s why he was ok with me leaving him.
