• I took a deep breath as I stood in front of the chapel steps. People were milling around, and I had no idea if Madison was even here. I hadn’t seen her again after I’d left her on Friday morning. After our disastrous training session, I’d gone home with Alexei and slept my hangover off on his couch.
• By the time I got back, Madison had presumably already left for the venue where she’d spent the night before our wedding. Jared was staying with Endri and Luke and the penthouse felt eerily quiet and empty. My eye wasn’t blue anymore, but the cut was still visible.
• I felt like a fraud in the suit I was wearing, watching everyone as they smiled at me and congratulated me. I was lying to each and every one of them and I hated it. I knew Castiel hadn’t said a word because this wasn’t something Alexander would let go.
