Chapter 46

• We were in the locker rooms hyping each other up and listening as Coach talked to us. We were playing the Jets and I felt ready. I loved the feeling I got right before a game started. Soon we’d skate out onto the ice without our helmets, listening to the cheers of our fans.
• “Kage, easy on the roughing tonight. It’s our first game and I know you go all crazy in the head when the fans scream your slogan, but keep it for when it matters,” Coach said and some of the guys laughed.
• “Seriously, Coach, if Johnson tries to grab my ass again, I’m taking him out,” I said.
