• I stood under the water of the shower for a long time that night. Madison had put Jared to bed and Alexander hadn’t said much when we returned to my penthouse. I could see he had mixed feelings about my announcement. Cherise had been quiet as well although she had congratulated us too but none of my family had.
• Madison was sitting upright on my bed when I walked out of the bathroom with the towel around my waist. I had been so lost in thought that I’d forgotten to take my pajama pants to the bathroom with me.
