Chapter 50 Walking Away

• Vangie walked away from Bert’s farm, completely out of it. Her eyes had turned into broken faucets—her tears wouldn’t stop. She still couldn’t believe Bert had actually lied to her. She wanted to believe him. She really did. But the fact that he hadn’t told her they were together during the town festival meant he was hiding something. She wasn’t stupid not to realize that.
• “How could you be so stupid, Vangie? Why did you fall for it so easily? Just because he’s kind? My God! You’re a grown woman and you still got played!” she muttered to herself. She must’ve looked crazy, talking to no one, but she didn’t care. Her chest felt unbearably heavy, and she didn’t know how to lighten it.
