Chapter 55 Old Friends

• I turn my phone to check my messages while Neela and Cooper walk around the store picking up the needed items. I had some money from a few sales, and I tuck the envelope into my pocket. My phone dings again and again. I notice many missed messages from Natalia, and I roll my eyes. I’m really not interested in what she has to say after everything I’ve heard and the way she’s been acting.
• I turn and watch Neela and Cooper take care of the shopping, and I can’t help but smile. I love seeing them together; I love this family time we’re having. I still don’t know how to navigate a relationship with Neela, but I don’t want to focus on that right now. I just want to enjoy this because I never believed it would happen.
• My phone rings in my hand, and I answer without looking at the caller ID. “Hello?”
