• Lisa looked at me with surprise, then her gaze turned sad and disappointed as I tidied up my desk after my resignation letter was accepted by the company’s HR department. All the projects under my supervision would be handed over to Lisa, who would likely replace me after I left. She was a woman with great ability and enthusiasm for work.
• “Nat, can you not leave me? I can’t do without you. We are all very happy to have you as our boss.” I knew Lisa was trying to persuade me to stay.
