Chapter 83 I Love You

• The creak of the door hinges greeted Eve as she opened the front door of her house. A thin layer of dust covered the floor, and the moment she stepped inside, she coughed as dust swirled into the air.
• “We’re home, Chase,” she said with a long sigh as she looked into the darkness that blanketed the house. Ever since they had left, Chase had slept peacefully in the baby carrier. He only woke occasionally when he was thirsty, but otherwise he had been a calm and delightful baby. This was Chase’s first long trip on a commercial airplane, and Eve had worried he would get fussy from being confined in a cramped space with so many people. Thankfully, Chase seemed to understand their situation.
• Eve dragged her suitcase with one hand while the other supported Chase, who rested securely in his baby carrier. Because she had left Servaxia in such a hurry, there hadn’t been much she could bring. Only a few changes of clothes for herself, while most of the suitcase was filled with Chase’s clothes and baby supplies.
