Chapter 4 Tourist Island
- Going to Servaxia was the best decision Eve made after her disastrous wedding event.
- She thanked Alfred after he helped her carry her suitcase onto the ferry. The ferry would take her to the tourist island.
- She had bought some clothes and dresses on her way to the port. Alfred happily escorted her to several boutiques and patiently waited for her to choose clothes.
- Shortly after Eve boarded the ferry, it set off towards the tourist island. She couldn’t stop marveling at the crystal-clear blue sea. Occasionally, dolphins leaped in the distance, and schools of fish swam freely.
- The tourist island was located quite close to the main island of Servaxia. It only took about half an hour to get there.
- Warm white sand and the scent of the sea mixed with the sun welcomed Eve as she disembarked from the ferry, making her feel in full vacation mode rather than coming to this country for work.
- If only she had more time, she would stay for a week on this beautiful tourist island.
- Regardless of whoever this Lucas Atwood person was, Eve couldn’t help but give him credit for all the tourism facilities he built in Servaxia because everything was so beautiful.
- “Welcome to Servaxia’s tourist island,” greeted a woman wearing a navy blue uniform. She welcomed the group coming from the ferry that Eve boarded.
- The woman explained some things about the tourist island and then distributed schedules for the performances that would start later in the afternoon.
- There was plenty of entertainment and booths they offered, ranging from traditional dance performances by the island’s staff, exhibitions of desserts and chocolates made by renowned pastry chefs and chocolatiers, barbecue parties, drink bars, and stores selling various souvenirs.
- The highlight of tonight’s event was fireworks and light shows from the lighthouse at the end of the island. Eve checked what time the show would start and made sure she wouldn’t miss it.
- The woman employee then led them to the other side of the island where the accommodations were located. The accommodations here were small bungalows built over the clear, emerald, shallow waters.
- Eve saw in the distance there were several large bungalows built behind a straw fence. It seemed like that place was accommodation for special guests who wanted their privacy maintained.
- Eve got a bungalow at the end of the wooden bridge, facing the open sea. She sighed, feeling the swelling satisfaction in her heart. This place successfully made her forget all the problems in her life, and a small part of her wanted to stay in this place forever.
- But she couldn’t just let go of her childhood home, imagining the place full of memories owned by her mother and step-siblings. She would never allow that to happen.
- Eve unpacked her suitcase, took out her clothes, and spruced them in the closet. She hung the dresses she had just bought and examined them one by one, unsure which dress to wear for the evening event.
- Finally, her choice fell on a purple summer dress, with small white flowers adorning the chest, right on the collar, and spaghetti straps on the shoulders. She took the dress and put it on her body. Then she walked to the full-length mirror and observed her reflection.
- Compared to Tatiana, Eve was much more attractive. And it wasn’t just her saying that.
- She had the bluest eyes one could have, like the color of the Servaxian sea. Her long wavy hair was a captivating dark brown. Her body was slender, with curves in all the right places.
- But it seemed that her flawless beauty wasn’t enough for Mason.
- Eve shook her head. “Don’t think about Mason, Eve,” she said to herself, glaring at the mirror. “Get him out of your mind! Today it’s a day for you to have fun!”
- Ever since her father passed away, Eve had never really had fun. She avoided all gatherings with her office friends, choosing to bury herself in work and deliberately punishing herself by accepting unfair treatment from Berlina.
- All because she felt guilty about her father’s death.
- If only she hadn’t left after arguing with her father at that time, maybe her father would still be—
- Eve squeezed her eyes shut.
- This wasn’t the time to dwell on sad thoughts.
- She took a deep breath and exhaled until she felt calm. After that, she headed to the bathroom to get ready.
- If the tourist island looked beautiful during the day, then as night fell, the island felt magical. With hanging lights spread in several places, classic-style street lamps, and colorful lights wrapped around the trees, the tourist island at night was truly unparalleled.
- Eve approached every food stall she saw, tasting various foods and drinks she had never tried before. She lingered at the chocolate stall because she loved chocolate so much. She felt like taking all those chocolates home because they not only looked beautiful but also tasted delicious.
- Satisfied with her chocolate indulgence, Eve headed to the beachside bar. The place looked crowded with tourists. She looked for an empty seat and found a secluded area. There were only a few people there, including a couple, and from the way the woman was speaking, they seemed to be arguing.
- The woman noticed Eve’s arrival, but she didn’t care and kept talking.
- “We will marry, and you’re the richest person in this country! What’s so difficult for you to give me fifty percent of your shares, darling?” the woman said in a loud tone.
- Eve couldn’t see the man’s expression because he was sitting with his back to her. All she could hear was the man’s voice saying, “Rome wasn’t built in a day, Nella. Do you think I can just hand over a part of my Rome to you after I’ve worked so hard to build it all this time?”
- “But I’ll be your wife, for God’s sake! Isn’t it my right to have all your assets once we’re husband and wife?!”
- “That’s true,” the man replied. “That’s if you become my wife. And seeing your attitude now, I’m not sure I still want to make you my wife.”
- Eve stopped and intended to turn away when suddenly the woman named Nella stood up from her chair, grabbed her drink glass, and splashed its contents onto the man. He managed to dodge it, so the drink didn’t hit him.
- Everything happened so fast, and Eve, standing behind the man, was too late to move. She could only gasp as the drink Nella splashed hit her face and body.
