• Damian stared intently at the ultrasound results in his hand. The tension in his face was unmistakable. His heart had been pounding erratically for some time. The name printed on the ultrasound report was crystal clear, leaving his mind completely frozen. He recalled when Kimberly said she would give him a gift. That meant the ultrasound result in his hand was the beautiful gift she had meant.
• “Shit!” Damian cursed harshly as he shut his eyes. Fragments of memory surfaced from what had happened at the hospital yesterday. He also remembered when Kimberly asked to be held, her hand resting over her stomach. Foolishly, he hadn’t realized what she meant. Kimberly’s nausea and vomiting all this time hadn’t been due to illness. If only he had forced her to see a doctor back then, things wouldn’t have turned out like this.
